Financial Aid

Financial assistance may be available to participants in the accelerated online program. To begin the financial aid process you should:

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Indicate 001090 as your school code on the FAFSA.
  2. Complete the A-State admission process for the accelerated online program.
  3. Register for at least three degree-seeking hours as a Graduate level student or six degree-seeking hours as an undergraduate level student each semester.
  4. Monitor your A-State email account for further instructions from the A-State Financial Aid Office. Students can also monitor their progress by checking their Financial Aid Checklist located online via myCampus under the Self-Service Banner-Financial Aid option.

Students should allow up to 4-6 weeks for the financial aid process to be completed. The Financial Aid Office will begin to apply awards to student accounts in good standing after the 11th class day of the semester (fall and spring).

Student Account Information, the centralized billing and collection point for student accounts, will begin processing refunds for excess aid after the Financial Aid Office has disbursed funds to student accounts. It typically takes at least 2-5 business days to process a refund.

Courses must be paid for by the tuition deadline; there are NO exceptions to this policy. If you have been awarded financial aid, have accepted enough to cover your balance and have completed all follow-up requirements, then your account should be satisfactory. If you have not been awarded or have not accepted an offer of financial aid, you are still required to pay for your courses by the tuition deadline.

Note: In accordance with federal financial aid guidelines, students in a Certification Only Program of Study are considered non-degree seeking candidates rather than degree-seeking candidates and are, therefore, ineligible for financial aid. Participants in A-State Online programs are not eligible for university housing.

Students can contact the financial aid office by calling 866-881-3168 or emailing [email protected].

Graduation

Arkansas State University confers degrees and offers graduation ceremonies three times a year, in May, August and December. It is possible you will complete your degree requirements prior to the conferral date. If so, your degree will be conferred at the next available conferral date. You are welcome to participate in the graduation ceremony closest to your date after you complete your degree requirements.

All students are required to complete an Intent to Graduate form, which will be emailed to them, and submit the graduation fee ($85 for graduate-level, $60 for undergraduate-level, post-graduate level $95), regardless of intent to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Students will be given the option to walk at the graduation ceremony; however, if final grades are not in at the time of graduation, a diploma will not be distributed that day. Diplomas will be mailed to students once final grades are in and verified.

Students should expect to receive diplomas within 3 weeks of degree conferment. Please ensure your correct mailing address is on file.
