The Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology Specialist online program provides educators with the opportunity to develop technology-based leadership skills. TThe master’s level credentials developed in this 15 credit hour program can be applied toward an MSE in Educational Theory and Practice – Instructional Technology Specialist. A-State Online offers a streamlined admission process for both new students and transfers. Students who are interested in the Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology Specialist online program must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and a valid teaching certificate. Make sure to review full admission requirements below.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 2.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Valid, active teaching certificate
- Note: If you have a 2.75-2.99 GPA, you must make a grade of B or better during the first 12 hours of graduate work at Arkansas State University.
- Complete online application
- Pay the nonrefundable $30 fee
- Send official transcript(s) from the college/university attended. Official transcripts are sealed transcripts sent from the sending institution.

ETLI 6013: Digital Media & Design
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
The purpose of this course is to familiarize candidates with digital media technology. It focuses on design and development of electronic media to support learning, including tools to facilitate professional layouts, imaging, presentations, communications, and web development.
ETLI 6023: Principles of Distance Education
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course will provide an overview of distance education and investigate current issues in distance education. Project work will involve evaluating, designing, and delivering distance learning.
ETLI 6103: Socially Interactive Technology in Education
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course is designed to teach educators how social media can be utilized in the classroom effectively. This course is a practical and theoretical analysis of how social networking environments influence the ways information and knowledge are created and circulated.
ETLI 6213: Leadership in Instructional Technology
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course provides candidates with the opportunity to develop leadership skills in information technology. Analyzing the role of the technology as a catalyst for change, emphasis is on identification and evaluation of implementing new technologies in instructional environments.
ETLI 6313: Assessing Technology and Standards
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
Designed to enable students to understand and use appropriate classroom assessment practices by applying knowledge of pedagogy and development to high-quality strategies for formative and summative assessment.
