Students who are interested in the Post-Master's Certificate – Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program must have a Master of Science in Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution.   • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program of nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in MSN coursework

  • Current unencumbered RN license
  • Satisfactory background check completed through Verified Credentials

Graduates of an MSN program with an AGACNP option that did not include the required certification eligibility requirements from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and/or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (Advanced Physiology/Pathophysiology; Advanced Health Assessment, including diagnostics and disease management; Advanced Pharmacology; and/or minimum of 500 faculty supervised clinical hours) are also eligible to apply. A request for a curriculum "Gap Analysis" to determine an individual Plan of Study will be requested from the Program Coordinator prior to admission.

To finish the Post-Master's Certificate – Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner online program, you must complete a total of 21.5 credit hours. If a Gap Analysis determines you must enroll in an individual plan of study, you will also need to complete three advanced nursing courses totaling nine credit hours. All advanced nursing courses (if required) and all seminar courses must be completed prior to the start of the first practicum course taken.

NURS 622V: AGACNP Seminar 2

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 1.5

Provides research-based theoretical and clinical foundation for specialization of AG-ACNP. Content includes diagnostic reasoning and management of complex acute and chronic health problems for adult and geriatric population. Emphasis on but not limited to pulmonary, integumentary, and health promotion. Prerequisites, NURS 6003, NURS 6013, NURS 6023.

NURS 623V: AGACNP Seminar 3

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 1.5

Expansion of research-based theoretical and clinical foundation for specialization of AG-ACNP. Attention given to cultural considerations, and legal and ethical standards. Focus on health promotion and maintenance, but not limited to disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and endocrine systems. Prerequisites, NURS 6003, NURS 6013, NURS 6023.

NURS 624V: AGACNP Seminar 4

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 1.5

Expansion of research-based theoretical and clinical foundation for specialization of AG-ACNP. Attention given to cultural considerations, and legal and ethical standards. Focus on health promotion and maintenance, but not limited to obstetrics, hematologic, oncologic and immunologic disorders. Prerequisites, NURS 6003, NURS 6013, NURS 6023.

NURS 625V: AGACNP Seminar 5

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 1.5

Focuses on research-based complex care for specialization of Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Particular attention given to neurological disorders, shock/trauma, palliative care and special procedures. Prerequisites, NURS 623V, NURS 624V.

NURS 626V: AGACNP Seminar 6

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 1.5

Focuses on research-based complex care for specialization of Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Particular attention given to but not limited to practice issues, risk assessment, and geriatric related disorders. Prerequisite, NURS 625V.

NURS 6612: AGACNP Practicum 1

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2

Clinical application of theoretical basis for management of complex adult and geriatric clients with acute critical illnesses. Prepare students to interview patients, build care plans, and work with clinical instructors and preceptors to apply knowledge of acute care processes. Prerequisites, NURS 6003, NURS 6013, NURS 6023.

NURS 6622: AGACNP Practicum 2

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2

Execute knowledge of theoretical basis for management of complex patients. Prepare students to interpret diagnostic tests and utilize therapeutic and technologic interventions. Develop discharge summaries and apply theoretical knowledge for transitioning from various levels of acute on chronic illness.

NURS 6632: AGACNP Practicum 3

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2

Utilize clinical application of theoretical basis for management of complex adult and geriatric clients with chronic, acute, and critical illnesses in a variety of health care settings. Prepare students to interpret and utilize diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans. Prerequisites, NURS 6003, NURS 6013, NURS 6023.

NURS 6642: AGACNP Practicum 4

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2

Utilize clinical application of theoretical basis for management of complex adult clients with chronic, acute, and critical illnesses in a variety of health care settings. Emphasis on patient assessment and prioritization of treatments and interventions from hospital admission to discharge. Prerequisites, NURS 6612, NURS 6622.

NURS 6652: AGACNP Practicum 5

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2

Further clinical application of theoretical basis for management of complex adult and geriatric clients with chronic, acute, and critical illnesses in a variety of health care settings. Practicum experience in specialized areas of advanced practice. Prerequisites, NURS 6632 and NURS 6642. Restricted to Master of Science in Nursing-Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner option/PMC program. Prerequisites, NURS 6632 and NURS 6642.

NURS 666V: AGACNP Practicum 6

Duration: 7 weeks  |  Credit Hours: 2.5

Further clinical application of theoretical basis for management of complex adult and geriatric clients with chronic, acute, and critical illnesses in a variety of health care settings. Practicum experience in specialized areas of advanced practice. Prerequisites, NURS 6652.
