Who can apply to this Accelerated BSN program?
Students who hold a baccalaureate degree in any subject, have completed all the prerequisites, and meet our GPA requirements can apply. This is a prelicensure program, therefore it is not necessary to already be a nurse.
How do I determine my sequence of courses?
The DNP student will be assigned a student advisor. The advisor will contact the student to discuss the individual degree plan designed to fit the student’s part-time or full-time plan.
Does A-State help with clinical placement?
Yes, we supervise all clinical placements in the program, ensuring that students do not have to worry about this aspect at all.
I do not live in Arkansas. Is this program available in my state?
Students from states outside of Arkansas should consider the in-person clinical requirements of the program. Students will be required to commute or relocate to Jonesboro, AR to complete their clinical requirements at an approved clinical site. Do I need to have a nursing license in Arkansas to complete the Accelerated BSN program?
Students are not expected to have a nursing license upon entry into the program; however, the program is intended for students who plan to practice as a nurse in Arkansas upon completion of the program.
What are NRSP courses?
NRSP courses are nursing practicum courses. The first two in the curriculum are NRSP 2391 (Health Assessment Practicum) and NRSP 2321 (Fundamentals of Nursing Practicum). How much of this BSN program is completed online?
Being a prelicensure, practice-based degree, there are certain elements of the curriculum that need to be taught in-person. The didactic courses (courses with a prefix of NRS) will be completely online. NRSP courses (with the exception of NRSP 2391) will require in-person attendance.
Does the online Accelerated BSN program accept transfer credits?
Students should have a bachelor’s degree to be eligible for admission into the program.

What else do I need to know about PLA, and how can I get the process started?
Students must be admitted to the university prior to being evaluated for any A-State-approved PLA credit or engaging in the PLA process. Once admitted, students can work with the PLA office at A-State to begin the process by contacting [email protected] or 870-972-3623.
How many credits can be obtained through PLA and transfer?
In most circumstances, a maximum of 90 credit hours can be obtained through a combination of traditional, non-traditional and PLA transfer credits.
Is there a cost associated with PLA?
Yes. Some examinations such as AP, CLEP and others charge their own fees in order to take the exam. A-State may assess fees based on the type of PLA you submit and the amount of credit awarded.
How is PLA different from transfer credit?
Generally, PLA credit is awarded for college-level learning outside of the traditional classroom environment while transfer credit is awarded for college-level learning within the traditional classroom environment.
What prior learning assessments are available?
A PLA is the process by which a student demonstrates their prior learning experiences, and the university evaluates and awards credit for such experiences. Examples of prior learning assessments include credit by exam such as AP, CLEP or DSST; credit by portfolio assessment; or credit by pre-assessed experiences such as licenses, certifications or credentials.

How long will I be able to view my course material once I have completed the course?
After the course is over, students will have access for an additional two weeks. You should take this opportunity to save any documents you might need in the future.
