Admission to this BSN program is accessible

Arkansas State University has a streamlined admission process that makes it easy for you to enroll in the Accelerated BSN online program. Enrollment Specialists are available to walk you through the admission process, so you will be able to complete your application quickly.

Admission to our Accelerated BSN program is highly selective due to the large number of applicants each cycle. We are committed to enrolling academically strong individuals who demonstrate a clear alignment with the values and demands of the nursing profession, ensuring they are well-prepared for success in both the program and their future careers.

Admission Requirements:

Bachelor's degree
Overall minimum GPA of 2.5 on all undergrad coursework
Prerequisite GPA of at least 3.0

To be considered for admission into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, you must meet the following criteria:

Have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Have at least an overall 2.5 GPA across all courses taken
Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the following prerequisite courses, with at least a C in each of these courses:
- Microbiology for Nursing and Allied Health and Laboratory
- Human Anatomy/Physiology I and Laboratory
- Human Anatomy/Physiology II and Laboratory
- Fundamental Concepts of Chemistry I and Laboratory OR General Chemistry I and Laboratory
- Composition I
- Composition II
- Introduction to Psychology
- Introduction to Sociology
- Statistics
- The United States to 1876 OR The United States Since 1876 OR, Introduction to United States Government
- College Algebra

Important note: All course attempts will be considered in the calculation of prerequisite GPA.

Please note: The average cumulative GPA of accepted students is between 3.27-3.41. The average prerequisite GPA is between 3.39-3.53.

You may qualify for early admission if you have completed a bachelor’s degree, finished all the prerequisites with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher AND have an overall undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher. All other applicants will be reviewed after the application deadline.

Additionally, if you’ve ever attended a professional program in the past, you may be required to provide a letter of good standing.

Note: If these undergraduate foundation courses are not reflected on your transcript(s), you will be required to take them prior to admission in the Accelerated BSN program. All prerequisites must be completed before submitting their application. These courses are offered through A-State Online.

English proficiency requirements

This program requires a high level of English proficiency to meet academic and clinical objectives, along with meeting the criteria for licensure. You may be required to provide proof of English proficiency per A-State School of Nursing English Proficiency Standards.

Meeting the admissions requirements does not guarantee admission. Students will be admitted based on space availability.

Students who are existing U.S. residents originally from non-English speaking countries or for whom English is not a native language must take one of the following tests:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 83 on the preferred internet-based test (iBT), 570 on the paper-based test, or 213 on the computer-based test

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of at least 6.5 and a spoken band score of 7

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a score of 56

Application submission requirements

Submitting your application takes three easy steps: filling out the application, submitting your documents and paying the application fee.

When completing the online application, select 100% online student and then complete all the steps on the online application.
Pay $30.00 non-refundable application fee.
Submit all official college transcripts.

While not needed to render an admissions decision, the following items will also be needed:

A criminal background check completed through Verified Credentials prior to starting the program
Proof of a Health Care Provider CPR course (i.e., adult, infant, and child with AED). This course may be obtained at the local Red Cross, American Heart Association, or an approved facility.
Proof of a Hepatitis B series and TB skin test
