Explore the requirements for the online master’s in history program

A-State Online has a streamlined admission process for new students and transfers alike. Students who are interested in the M.A. in History online program must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Review full admission requirements below.

Admission Requirements:

  • Official transcript
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Complete an online application and submit a nonrefundable $30 fee
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with at least 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and 18 hours in history; or a B.A. in History; or a B.A. in one of the following: geography, political science, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, art history or American studies
  • If you hold a B.A. or B.S. degree in any discipline and at least a 2.75 GPA, you will be considered on an individual basis
  • If you do not have at least a 3.0 GPA or higher and/or possess a degree outside of those listed above, you must also submit a letter of intent that provides the applicant’s background, accomplishments, research interests and goals

Note: You may apply up to nine hours of earned credit from a previous history graduate degree program to the completion of this degree, provided that those credits were earned within the six-year limit for completion of the second degree
