- A valid teaching certificate
- No record as a felon or sex offender
- Have a baccalaureate degree or a master's degree with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited institution.
- Read and submit the Professional Dispositions Signature Document.

- Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, or
- Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale and 2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours (admission with this GPA is contingent on a letter of recommendation from the school superintendent or principal), or
- Have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) from a graduate school from an accredited university.
- Conditional admission requires that the candidate make a grade of B or better during the first twelve hours of graduate work at Arkansas State University.

Up to nine graduate hours from ASU-Jonesboro or other higher education institutions may
be credited toward a program. No course can be older than six years by graduation time. Transfer
credit will be evaluated by the Director of the Program. To request prior credit be evaluated, please complete the
Graduate Transfer Credit Evaluation Form.

The Master of Public Administration at Arkansas State University exists to enhance individual, organizational, social and governmental capacity in the public and non-profit sectors by equipping pre-service and mid-career students with sound management skills and a public/non-profit philosophy to lead public institutions of the future with integrity, innovation, excellence and professionalism.
To be considered for admission to the MPA program, in addition to meeting Graduate School admission requirements:
- Applicants must provide three letters of recommendation.
- An applicant's undergraduate background must include courses with grades of "C" or higher in American national government and principles of economics or their equivalents. If the student is deficient, these courses must be taken in addition to the graduate course requirements. Such undergraduate deficiencies must be completed prior to or during the first graduate enrollment period.
For unconditional admission, a student must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (or 3.2 in the last 60 hours).
For conditional admission, academic proficiency must be established by a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.75. Previous graduate work must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
To be considered for the Ed.S. Education Specialist Degree program, each candidate must have, in addition to the admission requirements of the Graduate School, the following:
- At least a 3.25 GPA in a master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience as a certified teacher in an educational institution. Please print and complete the
Years of Teaching Experience Verification Form.
- A written commitment from a practicing central office administrator who will serve as a mentor during this program. Applicants should review the qualifications and responsibilities with their chosen mentor prior to having the mentor complete the mentor form.
- Candidates for the Specialist degree are required to complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate work. A maximum of nine semester hours of graduate credit may be transferred from other approved institutions.
To be considered for the Specialist Degree-Principalship Track, each candidate must have, in addition to the admission requirements of the Graduate School, the following:
- At least a 3.25 GPA in a master's degree from an accredited institution and program.
- Two years of experience as a certified teacher in an educational institution.
- A current state-issued teaching license.
- A written commitment from a practicing building-level administrator who will serve as a mentor during this program.
To be considered for the Specialist Degree-Director of Special Education Track, each candidate must have, in addition to the admission requirements of the Graduate School, the following:
- At least a 3.25 GPA in a master's degree from an accredited institution and program.
- Two years of experience as a special education teacher in an educational institution.
- A current state-issued special educator's teaching license.
- A written commitment from a practicing special education director or central office administrator who will serve as a mentor during this program.
To be considered for the Specialist Degree-Curriculum Director Track, each candidate must have, in addition to the admission requirements of the Graduate School, the following:
- At least a 3.25 GPA in a master's degree from an accredited institution and program.
- Two years of experience as a certified teacher in an educational institution.
- A current state-issued teaching license.
- A written commitment from a practicing building-level administrator who will serve as a mentor during this program.
To be considered for the Specialist Degree-Gifted and Talented Director Track, each candidate must have, in addition to the admission requirements of the Graduate School, the following:
- At least a 3.25 GPA in a master's degree from an accredited institution and program.
- Two years of experience as a certified teacher of gifted, talented, and creative (GTC) in an educational institution.
- A current state-issued(GTC) teaching license.
- A written commitment from a GTC director or district level administrator who will serve as a mentor during this program.
Programs of study leading to Arkansas licensure are available in the following areas:
Building-Level Administrator, Special Education Director, Gifted and Talented Director, Curriculum Director, Special Education P-4, Special Education 4-12, and Gifted, Talented and Creative Teachers.
- An education-related master's degree from an accredited institution is a prerequisite for admission to all programs of study except Special Education P-4, Special Education 4-12, and Gifted, Talented and Creative Teachers, which require the possession of an initial teaching license.
- Two years of teaching experience (except for Special Education P-4 and Special Education 4-12). Please print and complete the Years of Teaching Experience Verification Form.
- A written commitment from an educator who will function as your mentor during the degree program. Applicants should review the qualifications and responsibilities with their chosen mentor prior to having the mentor complete the mentor form.
